Solid Wood Thresholds and Stair Nosings

Solid Wood Thresholds and Stair Nosing for Hardwood Flooring

The Nelson Watson Solid Wood Flooring Transition Reducer Thresholds are designed to provide a functional, durable, eye pleasing transition floor trim between two flooring surfaces when a flush application is desired. Common applications include use as a tile to wood transition, tile to hardwood transition and as a tile to laminate flooring transition. Another application that I have implemented was to use the Reducer Threshold around the hearth of a fireplace when the existing flooring was thicker than the hearth. Also on rare occasions I would need to attach a wood spacer underneath the Reducer Threshold to create a Reducer Threshold T-molding.

The Nelson Watson Solid Wood Flooring Transition Stair Nosing are designed to provide a functional, durable, eye pleasing transition floor trim for ceramic tile, marble, hardwood or other surfaces when a rounded outside edge is desired, usually at the top of stairs. The NW 8000 Stair Nosing which has a lip to cover the outside edge of the existing flooring is beneficial when the existing flooring has an uneven edge. This is usually the case with ceramic tile or marble. The NW 8060 Stair Nosing which has a squared edge is designed to use when a flush application is desired. The most common application of the NW 8060 Stair Nosing is as a stair nosing for hardwood flooring that is nailed or glued down.

As a flooring contractor before devoting my full attention to the manufacture and sales of the Nelson Watson Solid Wood Flooring Transition Moldings I often attached a wood spacer to the bottom of the NW 8060 Stair Nosing to accommodate the existing thicker flooring. This was also the case with the NW 8000 Stair Nosing at times.
