APPLICATIONS FOR WOOD FLOORING TRANSITION MOLDINGS

The following are a few applications for wood flooring transition moldings:

NW 1000 Wood Reducer

The most common use of the NW 1000 Reducer is a transition from ceramic tile to other existing flooring. The NW 1000 Reducer can also be used in other flooring applications such as a vinyl to laminate transition, wood to wood flooring transition and a carpet to wood floor transition trim. Pictured below is the NW 1000 Reducer with ceramic tile.

Alternate Wood Reducers

The NW 1000 and the NW 1500 Reducers will work on most applications when the transition is from ceramic tile to carpet, wood, or vinyl. However, in some cases when the transition is from ceramic tile over underlayment to a wood or vinyl flooring, a deeper rise is needed. Therefore, the NW 1075, NW 1100, NW 1175, NW 1300 (pictured below), and the NW 1375 Series Reducers have been developed to fill these needs. The NW 1020 Reducer is designed to use when a roll or tuck of the carpet is desired.

Flat Transitions and T-Moldings

The NW 1200 Flat Transition and the NW 1250 T Molding are used when the transition between two flooring surfaces are at the approximate same level. The most common applications include use as a wood to wood flooring transition, hardwood to tile transition and tile to laminate transition. Pictured below is the NW 1250 T Molding.

Split T-Moldings

The NW 1285 (pictured below) and NW 1290 Split T Moldings are used as a finish piece for the flooring around fireplaces, cabinets, glass sliding doors, etc.

Wood Reducer Thresholds

The NW 6050 and NW 6070 (pictured below) Reducer Thresholds are designed to use when a transition of two different flooring elevations with a flush application is desired.

Stair Nosing

The NW 8000 Stair Nosing is designed to use as a finish piece for ceramic tile, wood or other surfaces when a rounded outside edge is desired, usually at the top of stairs.

The NW 8060 Stair Nosing is designed to use in place of the NW 8000 Stair Nosing when a flush application is desired as in the application of the NW 6070 Reducer Threshold.

The above flooring transition moldings are made out of solid hardwood. When using screws or nails to install, pilot holes need to be drilled to prevent the wood from splitting. These holes should be drilled 3″ from both ends and approximately 16″ apart using a 7/64 drill bit. Pilot holes should be drilled at one half the width of the moldings. Nails will be provided with the molding order. There are also many glues and contact cements that can be used instead of nails to install the moldings.
